exploring, evolving and promoting the art of jazz dance. Our
professional performances are eclectic, exciting and high energy.

Regardless of the style or theme of a particular show, at the heart of DJD’s dance is an authentic respect for and connection to jazz music, especially live music which has led many to describe our dance as “music for the eyes.”

djd is proud to have been recognized by receiving the following awards:

2017- Metro Calgary Community Choice – Best Dance Studio
2017- Best of Calgary – Best Dance Company
2016- Metro Calgary Community Choice – Best Dance Studio
2014 – DJD’s Artistic Director Kimberley Cooper is awarded the Chrystal Prize from Dance Victoria
1999-2014 – The ffwd Reader’s Choice Award was presented to DJD for Best Dance Company.
2013 – DJD received the Light House Award from the Calgary Board of Education in recognition of the organization’s contributions to the CBE, its schools and its programs.
2013 – DJD received the national I love Dance Award for YOUTH by the Canadian Dance Assembly for our work with the inner city Connaught School.
2005 – Kathi Sundstrom, Executive Director was awarded the Rozsa Award for Excellence in Arts Management.
2002 – The Alberta Dance Alliance honoured Kimberley Cooper with the Emerging Artist of the Year award.
2000 – Canadian Institute for Theatrical Technology (CITT) honoured DJD with the CITT Award of Technical Merit.

Founder in Residence, Vicki Adams Willis has been honoured with the following:
