WINTER AUDITIONS – IN PERSON AND ONLINE
DJD will hold in-person auditions in both Calgary and Toronto for our Company and Professional Training Program (PTP) for the 2026/2027 season.

All dancers looking to audition via video must first fill out the audition form linked below.
International students are encouraged to apply as early as possible to allow for visa application processing times.
ABOUT DJD
The DJD professional company is the heart of the organization. We are creation-based and present a season of new work annually. Contracts run full-time for 36-42 weeks per year for a group of 8-12 dancers. National auditions for both our dance company and our professional training program take place annually.
LEARN MORETHE COMPANY
Dancers interested in auditioning for Company positions must be at least 20 years of age and have a passion for jazz dance and music. Professional experience, versatility, background in rooted jazz dance, swing, hip hop, and/or West African dance is an asset.
Personal groove is essential. Dancers should have a deep understanding of their bodies and technical training in the above forms with basic knowledge of classical or contemporary dance.
The DJD Company, generally on contract full-time from September – May, employs 8-12 professional dancers and is dedicated to progressively honouring the historical roots of jazz dance. Contracts include health benefits, chiropractic, physiotherapy, and health club/yoga studio memberships.
A limited number of paid training/understudy positions with the DJD Company may be available in conjunction with the Professional Training Program. Dancers will be considered for these positions at the discretion of the Artistic Director.
MEET THE DANCERSTHE PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM
The Professional Training Program (PTP) at DJD allows 10-15 advanced level dancers an eight-month intensive training experience. The program runs half days, Monday to Friday from September to May. Dancers auditioning for the Professional Training Program must be at least 18 years of age and interested in furthering their knowledge of jazz dance and the work of DJD.
DJD encourages all dancers, regardless of financial situation, to audition for the Professional Training Program. Bursaries and scholarships may be a possibility for the 2024/25 season.
