Part of the Black & White Ball planning is done by the Black & White Ball Committee. This year our Black & White Ball committee Chairpersons are Jina Morissette, Taylor Brown and Claire Auroi. We had the chance to interview Claire about her favourite parts and memories of attending the Black & White Ball throughout the years.

Q: Can you describe your relationship/your favourite thing about DJD?

A: I fell in love with DJD when I attended one of their Shows , just a few months after moving to Calgary 5 years ago. I have attended every DJD performance since and to this date , am still amazed by the edgy creative work, deeply rooted in authentic open jazz spirit. Coming from France and having lived many years in Montreal, I have had the chance to see many Dance performances around the world … and there is NO doubt that DJD is a world class company.  I was first a passionate spectator, and when I had the opportunity to contribute to their growth, I took it and now enjoy being a Board Member !

Q: In your opinion what makes the B&W Ball such a fun party?

A: Its blend of posh (I mean how many occasions do we have to dress up and dance in the stunning Palliser ball room😊) yet very chill and vibey. Great live music, people mingling and dancing. .. as a bonus, amazing auctions too !

Q: Do you have a favourite B&W Ball memory?

A: Too many amazing ones to just mention one ! My favourite overall feeling about the ball is how much Calgary people can be creative, fun and proud supporters of an outstanding cultural flagship of our city !!
