What is a relaxed performance?
A relaxed performance is designed for audience members who would benefit from a more relaxed environment including those with sensory concerns, autism spectrum disorders, learning disorders, dementia or anyone for whom the regular live performance experience can be challenging. Anyone is welcome to purchase tickets to these performances.
What is a relaxed environment?
The main goal of a relaxed performance is to “relax” the theatre experience through small changes to the audience expectations, environment and production.
- Expectations of complete silence and complete stillness in the audience during the performance will be relaxed to accommodate people for whom this is not realistic.
- Patrons are welcome to come and go from the performance.
- A “chill zone” will be set up in a designated space for patrons to use
- House lighting in the auditorium will not be lowered to complete darkness during the production.
- Performance aspects such as abrupt lighting, sounds, or effects may be limited or removed.
Thank you to Inside Out Theatre for making these performances possible through their Good Host Program.

We are excited to be part of One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo!
Olio means a stew, or a collection of things— in this case it’s a new performance created by five choreographers: company dancers Catherine Hayward, Sabrina Naz Comanescu and Kaja Irwin; DJD alumnus, Deanne Walsh; and DJD artistic director Kimberley Cooper. Music is played live by a jazz trio led by Jonathan McCaslin (composer/drummer) with Jon Wielebnowski (bass) and Chris Tauchner (piano/keyboards).
