PTP Interview Series: Max Kornachuk

DJD’s PTP program is an eight-month training experience. The PTP is dedicated to the development of skilled and knowledgeable jazz dance artists. The program runs Monday to Friday, September to May, with three to four hours of training each day. Participants study Jazz, Tap, Jazz Improvisation, West African, Swing, Latin, Core Strength, Jump Rhythm Jazz Style, DJD Repertoire, Jazz History and Jazz Music Appreciation.

MEET MAX!

1. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE PTP?
I’m from Winnipeg Manitoba and this is my first year in the PTP.

2. WHAT HAS THIS YEAR BEEN LIKE BEING BACK IN THE STUDIO? HOW HAS MOVEMENT HELPED YOU THROUGH?
It feels so good to be back and dancing during these hard times. I feel so privileged to able to move and it’s really helped with my mental health.

3. HOW HAS YOUR PROGRAM EXPERIENCE BEEN SO FAR AND WHAT HAS CHANGED IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO JAZZ DANCE?
So far, I love coming in and learning everything DJD has to offer! It really opened my eyes to how deep the roots of jazz go and I can’t wait to keep digging!
