DJD’s annual Black and White Ball is a fundraising event unlike no other. The community initiative primarily fundraising for the Children’s Bursary Fund, offers a night of indulgence, opulence and entertainment. Weaved throughout the Fairmont Palliser, are pop up performances from the lobby to the Crystal Ballroom. The Decidedly Jazz Company Dancers, living statues, musicians and dancers, there is a performance style to suit any taste.

LUCY’S ANGELS

Lucy’s Angels is a Ladies Styling dance team, directed by Lucy Pei under Mambo Productions Dance School. It is a team dedicated to celebrating femininity and free expression in dance. They specialize in salsa and NY style boogaloo, with a mix of jazz.  The dancers come from all walks of life, and bring different experiences and flavours with the same intense passion for dance to our performances. Recognized as one of the best ladies styling teams in Calgary, Lucy has created opportunities to dance, inspire and present her team in various festivals across Alberta.

Q: HAVE YOU PERFORMED AT THE BLACK AND WHITE BALL BEFORE?
A: Yes, this is our fourth year returning to the Black and White Ball, and second year of performance by Lucy’s Angels team. It’s one of our favourite performance events of the year!

Q:WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART, OR SOMETHING YOU FIND UNIQUE, ABOUT DJD’S BLACK AND WHITE BALL?
A: As a team, we have been to every DJD show in the past 4 years. We have loved and enjoyed them all and admire the grace and ingenuity with which DJD dancers move on and off the stage. To see them coming alive at The Black and White Ball, to share the same stage with them and to link hands with them in celebration of art, music, dance and love, is a journey that each of my team members treasures greatly. We cannot ask for a better venue to showcase our talent than The Black and White Ball, and the party is always a blast!  Last year we kept the champagne pouring until 1am!
