From our 1984 debut- Body and Sole, to last season’s Party Time, DJD has created over 70 concerts. To fully celebrate our 40th anniversary, we will bring you a spectacular retrospective of some of our vast repertoire accompanied by a live band led by DJD longtime collaborator, Kristian Alexandrov.

Performance information:

Approximate running time: 2 hours (includes a 20 minute intermission)

Latecomers policy:  Please allow extra time to arrive as roads may be busy with closures and construction. Our theatre is very intimate hence, we are unable to seat guests after the show has begun without disturbing the rest of the audience. Latecomers will not be seated until intermission, and will be invited to watch Act 1 from a monitor in the lobby.

Welcome to Reminiscing in Tempo! If this is your first DJD show, welcome!! You will get a great history lesson, I hope you will fall in love and come back soon. If you know us, I hope you will enjoy this dance down memory lane.

I must admit, this show is a little self-indulgent for me. I chose some (not all or we’d be here all week) of my favourite pieces to perform. Most of the work was created by Vicki Adams Willis, DJD’s founding Artistic Director, now Founder in Residence. We are so lucky that Vicki isn’t sick of us yet! She continues to be a vital part of DJD and was instrumental in remounting her work, especially Sophisticated Ladies Suite which premiered in 1986. There are other Adams Willis gems in there, as well some stunners created by co-founders Michèle Moss and Hannah Stilwell. I also wanted to include some beautiful pieces by Jamie Freeman Cormack and Sarisa Figueroa de Toledo, who were both longtime DJD dancers (among other things). Parking at DJD

The DJD Dance Centre parkade offers FREE underground parking Monday to Friday after 5PM and on Saturdays and Sundays. The parkade is free to valid ticket holders and students. Please note a code is needed to enter the parkade. (you will receive a code for the parkade 24 hours before the performance you are attending or with your class purchase). You can access the DJD parkade off Centre Street (at the back of the Kahanoff Centre). Walk offs are not permitted, your car can only remain in the DJD parking lot while you are at the DJD Dance Centre.

Please note:  There is a 6 foot maximum height restriction for our underground parking.

Additional parking

Two large paid-public parking lots are located at the South and East sides of the building. Two-hour meter street parking is available on Center Street SE, between 12 and 13 Avenue SE. Two disabled parking spaces are available on the south side of the building.
