Artistic Director’s Message
Kimberley Cooper
Welcome! We are so happy to be part of One Yellow Rabbit’s excellent High Performance Rodeo again! Please also check out our co-presentation of Ephemeral Artifacts: Travis Knights from Feb 2–4. The Rodeo is always a fantastic spectacle, don’t miss it!
But tonight…
This is not a wedding show, but dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate life!
OLD – With this performance, I wanted to support Alberta artists, and to satisfy long-time fans of DJD who always ask: “When are you going to do Vicki’s red shoe piece again?” And so, the dance piece whose real name is Every Tap Show Needs a Soft Shoe, is back on the stage in all its glory!

Rehearsal shot of Cassandra Bowerman and Sarisa F. de Toledo
Sarisa F. de Toledo was in the original cast for the piece Every Tap Show Needs a Soft Shoe (aka Red Shoes) and when she was here working on her piece, she gave Cassandra, who is now dancing her role, some great tips.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Old/New/Borrowed/Blue features some favourites from the DJD repertoire, new works by DJD alumna Sarisa F. de Toledo and current DJD company member Sabrina Naz Comanescu, and a borrowed piece by contemporary dance artist Marie France Forcier. Go behind the scenes with Kimberley Cooper and the creation of Old/New/Borrowed/Blue.
Sarisa has Cuban and Jamaican heritage that have heavily influenced her movement and choreographic inspiration, that are evident in her new piece for Old/New/Borrowed/Blue.
