This live performance features three distinct dance works:
The Shape She Takes – Catherine Hayward with Lighting Design by Steve Isom and Original Music by Trish Evans.
A contemporary dance work that explores femininity, transformation, and creative survival. Three dancers—each shaped by lived experiences of motherhood—move through a fluid and volatile landscape, their bodies echoing waves, storms, and shifting terrain. Musicians share the stage, engaging with the dancers in a real-time dialogue that invites spontaneity.
Unmasked – Tara Wilson with Lighting Design & Visual Media by Kris Mish
Unmasked is an innovative dance project that delves into the profound themes of concealed emotions, hidden identities, and the intricate layers beneath the surface of human expression. Through a fusion of dance and video projections, this project endeavours to expose the unseen, challenging audiences to contemplate what truly resides behind the masks we construct in our daily lives.
MOTHERLOAD – Sylvie Moquin with Lighting Design by Calum Maunier & Original Soundscore by Edgardo Moreno
A new contemporary dance work that confronts the lived realities of womanhood through bold physicality, collective energy, and uncompromising honesty. Performed by six dancers, the work explores the power of the female form, the weight of grief, and the necessity of community, connection, and shared resilience.
DJD DANCE CENTRE
Parking at DJD
The DJD Dance Centre parkade offers FREE underground parking Monday to Friday after 5PM and on Saturdays and Sundays. The parkade is free to valid ticket holders and students. Please note a code is needed to enter the parkade. (you will receive a code for the parkade 24 hours before the performance you are attending or with your class purchase). You can access the DJD parkade off Centre Street (at the back of the Kahanoff Centre). Walk offs are not permitted, your car can only remain in the DJD parking lot while you are at the DJD Dance Centre.
Please note: There is a 6 foot maximum height restriction for our underground parking.
Additional parking
Two large paid-public parking lots are located at the South and East sides of the building. Two-hour meter street parking is available on Center Street SE, between 12 and 13 Avenue SE. Two disabled parking spaces are available on the south side of the building.
