ICONIC+ is a disability-led, dance-based performance developed by the National accessArts Centre (NaAC) Dance Ensemble, co-produced with the National Art Centre’s National Creation Fund
Join us for the world premiere of ICONIC+ — a story that that takes place in the magical world of Dreamwriter, who turns dreams into reality! To Dreamwriter, imagined stories are her reality. In her world, icons are just dreamers who rarely get a chance to be seen, but she wants to show you a different story that goes beyond words and embodies ICONIC. So, dream, imagine, and experience a world with no barriers where we are free to be who we are and join us on this magical journey.
You won’t want to miss the National accessArts Centre’s biggest dance premiere supported by the National Arts Center’s National Creation Fund. Uncover ICONIC+’s groundbreaking world of visuals, stories, and accessibility. Step through the theatre doors and experience the magic of accessibility like you have never seen before.
The show is approximately 2 hours long with a 15-minute intermission. As a part of our accessibility measures, 15 minutes prior to the start of every show will be a description of the set, lighting, projection and sound through the eyes of Dreamwriter — our Audio Describer throughout the piece. All are encouraged to attend. This show contains Closed Captioning, Deaf Interpretation (ASL), and Audio Description at every performance. The house lights will stay on at a low level for the duration of the show, allowing patrons to come and go as needed. There will be no usage of haze, strobe, or any flashing effects that may cause seizures or triggers. Music will be kept at a medium to low volume throughout the performance. Access items including sunglasses, earplugs, and fidget toys will be available at every show in the theatre lobby for all patrons.

Parking at DJD
The DJD Dance Centre parkade offers FREE underground parking Monday to Friday after 5PM and on Saturdays and Sundays. The parkade is free to valid ticket holders and students. Please note a code is needed to enter the parkade. (you will receive a code for the parkade 24 hours before the performance you are attending or with your class purchase). You can access the DJD parkade off Centre Street (at the back of the Kahanoff Centre). Walk offs are not permitted, your car can only remain in the DJD parking lot while you are at the DJD Dance Centre.
Please note: There is a 6 foot maximum height restriction for our underground parking.
Additional parking
Two large paid-public parking lots are located at the South and East sides of the building. Two-hour meter street parking is available on Center Street SE, between 12 and 13 Avenue SE. Two disabled parking spaces are available on the south side of the building.
