Location & Parking

  • The DJD Dance Centre is located at 111 12 Ave SE. The DJD Dance Centre parkade offers FREE underground parking Monday to Friday after 5PM and on Saturdays and Sundays. The parkade is free to valid ticket holders and students. Please note a code is needed to enter the parkade. (you will receive a code for the parkade 24 hours before the performance you are attending or with your class purchase). You can access the DJD parkade off Centre Street (at the back of the Kahanoff Centre). Please note:  There is a 6 foot maximum height restriction for our underground parking.  Two large paid-public parking lots are located at the South and East sides of the building. Two-hour meter street parking is available on Centre Street SE, between 12 and 13 Avenue SE. Two disabled parking spaces are available on the south side of the building.

Classes

  • Payment must be made at the time of registration. Cash, debit card, cheque and credit card are accepted. Installment payments can be arranged; however, postdated cheques or a credit card number must be provided at the time of registration. A $10 administration fee is charged on all NSF cheques. In order to receive Early Bird pricing, full payment must be received by DJD on or before the Early Bird deadline.
  • DJD is a non-profit society and students are required to be members in order to take a class. The annual fee is $22/individual or $27/family. All memberships expire one year from date of purchase. The membership fee is non-refundable.
  • 1. A full refund is given only if a class is cancelled by DJD within two weeks of the class start date. 2. Class transfers within the same session are processed at no charge, space permitting. 3. If you withdraw 7 days or more before the first class, a $20 administration fee will be charged. You may request a refund of the remaining tuition or leave a credit on your account for future use. 4. No refunds or credits for future sessions will be provided within 7 days of the first class or after the class has begun, unless the withdrawal is due to medical circumstances. 5. If the withdrawal is due to medical circumstances, a refund or credit will be awarded only once a doctor’s note is received. Refunds or credits are prorated from the time you notify us of your withdrawal and a $20 administration fee is charged. 6. Non-attendance does not constitute notice of withdrawal. 7. Missed classes are non-refundable and make-ups must be completed within the same session. 8. In all withdrawals, the annual membership fee is non-refundable.
  • Decidedly Jazz Danceworks is located at 111 12 Ave SE. On weekdays before 5:00 p.m., there is 2-hour free and meter parking available along 13th Avenue and other streets in the vicinity. On weekdays after 5:00 p.m. & weekends all day, free parking is available in the DJD underground parkade (entrance on Centre Street). Please note a code is needed to enter the parkade students who are active members will receive an access code via email.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes early for your first class and check-in at the table in our lobby. You are required to sign a Release & Waiver Form before the first class in order to participate.
  • If you miss a class, you are entitled to make it up in any class at your level. Make-up classes must be completed within the same session and are not transferable to the next session. Students must check in at the front desk when doing a make-up class. We do not recommend make-ups for children under six.
  • If you are unable to come to your class, please take yourself out of class at least 6 hours prior to class start time. Early cancellations (more than 6 hours prior to class start time) will return your unused class to your active pass. Late cancellations (less than six hours prior to class start times) or no shows will use your active pass as if you had attended class. Unlimited Pass holders are entitled to one curtesy late cancel per month. Unlimited Pass holders who late cancel past that point will be charged a $15.00 Late Cancel Fee.
  • DJD does not have a formal dress code other than no jeans or outdoor footwear. DJD does not sell dance footwear however we do recommend either Classique Dancewear or Bodythings to purchase from. Please check with the front desk for footwear recommendations for your specific class 403-245-3533.

Performances

  • Tickets can be purchased online, at the door (subject to availability), or by calling 403-245-3533.
  • The front row of our theatre is reserved for wheelchair and accessible seating. Please call our box office directly to ensure your space is reserved.
  • Babes-in-arms are not permitted. Everyone attending the performance must have a ticket for their own seat. The recommended age for children attending is 5 years old and above, if they are able to sit quietly in the dark for approximately 50 mins.
  • We do not offer cash refunds. Tickets can be exchanged (for a small service fee) for another date, you must contact DJD 48 hours before the date of your tickets for an exchange. In the event of a cancellation for which there is no rescheduled date, refunds may be issued at the option of the management.
  • The theatre is located in the DJD Dance Centre on the 2nd floor at 111 12th Ave SE, Calgary, AB.
  • Depending on the option you selected when you purchased your tickets you will either be mailed your tickets, have downloadable tickets on your phone, or will pick the tickets up at the box office. Our box office is located on the main floor and is open one hour before the show.
  • Lost tickets can be replaced. Please contact our box office with details of your original purchase and replacement tickets will be issued. Or bring proof of purchase with you and replacements will be issued from the box office.

  • Our theatre is very intimate and we do not have the ability to seat latecomers after the show has begun. Latecomers will therefore watch the first act in the lobby via video and will be seated after intermission. We suggest that you give yourself plenty of time to arrive and park.

  • If you have to leave during a performance, you will need to wait for the intermission to re-enter.
  • No, please come in whatever you are comfortable in. We do have a coat check.
  • Yes, DJD has a bar located in the 2nd floor lobby which opens 45 minutes before the performance. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards.
  • The nearest ATM is located in the lobby of Hotel Arts.
  • There are chips, chocolate bars etc available at the lobby bar, which must be eaten before entering the theatre.
  • Only drinks bought from our bar and poured into a plastic cup are allowed in the theatre. All food must be consumed prior to entering the theatre. No outside food or drinks are allowed.

Black & White Ball

  • The Black & White Ball is hailed by many as one of Calgary’s best parties. Expect amazing music, a packed dance floor, impromptu performances by the DJD Company and guests, a spectacular silent auction and delicious culinary delights.
  • The Black & White Ball takes place on June 1, 2024 at the Fairmont Palliser Calgary 133 9th Ave SW.
  • Yes! Special room rates are available for guests of the ball, if you wish to book a room for the evening (or make a weekend of it!) please visit the event page for a link to the discount.
  • From cocktail to formal, dress to impress in your Black & White best. Wear your black & white finest (or strangest).
  • 8pm to the wee hours.
  • There are 3 options for tickets: Reserved Tables of 8 for $1200 – this option gives you a reserved table with 5 stools with 8 tickets, Single Tickets – Early Bird $100, Regular - $130. A $30 tax receipt will be issued per ticket.

  • Depending on the option you selected when you purchased your tickets you will be mailed your tickets or will pick the tickets up at the box office on the night of the ball. Our box office is located on the main floor lobby of the Fairmont Palliser and is open 1 hour before the party.
  • The event is one big stand up cocktail party that allows everyone to mingle, dance and enjoy the event. There will be limited areas of seating available in the lobby of the Palliser.
  • Light hors d’oeuvres are served at approximately 10:30pm, these tasty morsels will not suffice as dinner so please plan accordingly.
