Boundless honour and nerves are what I felt when Kimberley Cooper invited me to artistic direct the 2022 dancer choreographed show. It still feels like a dream to be in such a dynamic role and with every welcomed obstacle that tags along with such a job, I can only feel a sense of gratitude and excitement for this incredible opportunity. I have no clue how she does it.

AMPLIFIED was dreamt up to draw you near and surround you with the colourful embrace of jazz. The pieces you are about to see have all been based on a specific colour’s attribute and characteristic that each dancer chose randomly at the beginning of the process.

Rehearsing over the past seven weeks in the midst of two other creative processes in an ever-changing world, has propelled the dancers and me to anchor down and dig up ideas that have helped us all stay fervent and hopeful about the future and how jazz will show up in it.

Supporting my peers on their artistic paths and using jazz as a canvas I can create on and with has been awe-inspiring.
