love of dance in the young dancer, this pre-jazz class will introduce
concepts of listening, moving through space, and co-operating with
others within a creative dance framework with use of jazz music and
some jazz terminology.
Jazz
Ages 6-12 - Keeping a connection to the
history of jazz dance, the DJD children's jazz program places strong
emphasis on common dance techniques and skills within the jazz context
along with vernacular (social) dance steps from the early days of jazz
dance. Emphasis is placed on joy of dance and accuracy of movement in
an encouraging and non-threatening atmosphere.
Tap
The introduction of basic tap skills and
rhythms will guide dancers through this fun class. Increased speed and
complexity of steps will grow as the student moves into experienced
classes.
