ABOUT THE CENTRE

The DJD Dance Centre is a spectacular space with floor to ceiling windows in its studios, an intimate black box theatre, and a multi-purpose community living room space. This is a home for jazz dance and community dance hub. The DJD Dance Centre offers performances, training, outreach, rehearsal, creation and social space for all who enter.  The centre has been designed to inspire creativity for the users within and to be a source of creative energy for the district.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

In the spirit of respect, truth, and reconciliation, we acknowledge that we live and dance on the land of the traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy which includes the Blackfoot Nations comprising the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai; and the the Tsuut’ina and Iyarhe Nakoda Nations. Calgary/Moh’kinstis – the Elbow – is also home to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta District 6. It is our privilege to share in the care and well-being of this place.

Parking at DJD

The DJD Dance Centre parkade offers FREE underground parking Monday to Friday after 5PM and on Saturdays and Sundays. The parkade is free to valid ticket holders and students. Please note a code is needed to enter the parkade. (you will receive a code for the parkade 24 hours before the performance you are attending or with your class purchase). You can access the DJD parkade off Centre Street (at the back of the Kahanoff Centre).

Please note:  There is a 6 foot maximum height restriction for our underground parking.

Additional parking

Two large paid-public parking lots are located at the South and East sides of the building. Two-hour meter street parking is available on Center Street SE, between 12 and 13 Avenue SE. Two disabled parking spaces are available on the south side of the building.

RENTALS

The DJD Dance Centre’s theatre, studios, and large community living room are available for rent.

The DJD Dance Centre is absolutely radiating with movement. An art installation, called Take the Cake, by internationally renowned artistic team Hadley+Maxwell, illuminates the top of our dance centre.
